I recently reviewed the Asus Eee PC 1005HA, and one of my only real complaints is that the netbook has a glossy, reflective display. This can be a problem if you’re outdoors or in a brightly lit area where the screen turns into a bit of a mirror. But as it turns out, there are three versions of the 1005HA. Two have glossy screens, while one has a matte display. Unfortunately, the Eee PC 1005HA-M with a matte display isn’t currently available in the US. But it is shipping in Europe, and French site Blogeee recently snapped a few photos of the matte-screen version of this netbook.
There are some trade-0ffs. The model I reviewed, which is the Eee PC 1005HA-H comes with a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU and a 6 cell battery that Asus rates as a 10 hour battery. The Eee PC 1005HA-M has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU and a 6 cell, 8 hour battery.
It seems the ASUS Eee PC 1005HA-VU1X has a matte display:
“And a brilliant 10.1 inch matte LCD display makes viewing documents and multimedia content more comfortable than ever.”

I think I’m going to get this one. I just wish the 1005HA-PU1X versions had the same display.
Many MSI, Samsung and Lenovo models have matte screens.
HP, Dell, Asus and Acer tend to be shiny (boo!).
Most Asus netbooks have matte displays. Only the newest series, the 1008 and 1005 (except of course the HA-M) ship with glossy displays.
lenovo and samsung have matte screens on their netbooks now though.
I’m looking to get one in the next few weeks so I’d like to know which netbooks have a matte finish? I have a laptop with a glossy finish and it’s really useless when working outside.
