zzf-he

ZipZoomFly has the Asus Eee PC 1000HE in stock again, and again the company is offering a pretty nice discount. If you’re one of the next 200 or so people to put in an order, you can pick the netbook up for $350, which is about $50 below list price, and $39 less than theĀ $389 Amazon is currently charging.

The Asus Eee PC 1000HE has a 10.2 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1.66GHz Intel Atom N280 CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 160GB hard drive. It also has a high capacity 8700mAh battery which can run for as long as 9 hours on a single charge.

You can read more about the Eee PC 1000HE in the Liliputing Product Database.

thanks Brian!

Asus Eee PC S101 now available at Amazon, Newegg, ZipZoomFly

I’m going to be honest here. The Asus Eee PC S101 is overpriced. I’ve tried to talk several people I know out of buying this $700 “netbook.” But there’s no denying that it’s one of the best looking netbooks available. It’s small, measuring just 1.1 inches thick. And it’s light, at just 2.4 pounds. But inside, it’s 100% netbook and I wouldn’t expect better performance from the S101 than from an MSI Wind for half the price.

That said, if you’re willing to pay a premium for a device that’s marginally thinner and lighter, you might be pleased to know that US retailers including Newegg and Amazon are now carrying the Eee PC S101. It’s available for $699.99 from Amazon in graphite and brown versions. Both models have 16GBs of solid state storage.

Here are a few other places you can find the S101 in the US:

Eee PC 900 is (almost) available for preorder in the US

MobileTechReview is reporting that the Asus Eee PC 900 is now available for preorder in the US. But to be honest, I checked most of the sites on the list, and the only one I could find that even had a product page was ZipZoomfly. And there’s no option to order the Eee PC 900, just to be notified when it’s available.

Still, it looks like the Eee PC 900 should be available in the US in less than two weeks, and as I expected, J&R in New York is listed as one of the handful of bricks and mortar stores that should have units in stock early on. So while I’m not sure that I’ll pick one up for myself (I’m still pretty happy with my Mini-Note and Eee PC 701), I’ll probably be making a field trip to J&R on May 12th to get a firsthand look at the new touchpad and screen.
