Kinpo N03V 11.6 inch laptop unboxed – Video

kinpo n03v

The Kinpo N03V is an 11.6 inch portable laptop with a VIA Nano processor. It has a 3G modem, and it’s available in Taiwan for about $250 bundled with a 2-year mobile broadband contract.

Nicole from Netbook News got a chance to check one out in person recently and she’s posted an unboxing video. Now, normally when you get to unbox a new computer, it means you’ve purchased one and taken it to your house or office to spend some quality time with it. In this case, Nicole actually went into the Kinpo research and development headquarters in Taiwan and got a chance to open up a Kinpo N03V that was wrapped up in its retail packaging.

The laptop has a nice large keyboard, a wide touchpad with two distinct mouse buttons, and a glossy display. There’s an LED indicator next to the 1.3MP webcam, which is a nice feature that you don’t get with most netbooks.

The 4000mAh battery sits below the laptop, which means there’s room fora couple of ports on the back of the laptop. All told you get 3 USB ports, an SD card reader, VGA, Ethernet, and mic and headphone jacks. The N03V has 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, a VIA Nano U2250 CPU and an 11.6 inc, 1366 x 768 pixel display.

One of the neatest features is that you can upgrade the RAM or other components by popping off the keyboard which appears to be remarkably easy to do as you can see toward the end of the video below.

Kinpo N03 11.6″ notebook packs VIA Nano, WiMAX

kinpo n03

Taiwan’s Kinpo Electronics has introduced a new mini-laptop that stands out from the crowd a bit in a few areas. First, the Kinpo N03 (PDF link)has a VIA Nano processor. That’s not that unusual these days, especially on an 11.6 inch model with a 1366 x 768 pixel display. But the laptop also has integrated 3G and WiMAX support, as well as WiFi and Bluetooth.

The N03 can handle up to 2G of RAM and runs wither Windows XP or WIndows Home Basic. The laptop has a 4000mAh battery, 3 USB ports, a 2.5″ hard drive or a solid state disk, and an SD card reader. It weighs less than 2.9 pounds and measures 11.1″ x 7.8″ x 1.1″.

It looks like you can pick one up in China from Alibaba for $350, but I wouldn’t expect to see this laptop released globally at that price, (or with the Kinpo brand name still attached).
