Asus Eee PC 1201T and Lenovo ThinkPad X100e performance compared

YugaTech

The Lenovo ThinkPad X100e and Asus Eee PC 1201T both have 1.6GHz AMD Neo MV-40 processor and ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics processors. So you’d think they’d perform pretty much the same on most benchmarks. But it’s not just the CPU and GPU that determines a computer’s performance, as the folks at YugaTech recently discovered.

For instance, the two computers have different memory clock speeds and different hard drives. And while they both have ATI Radeon HD3200 grpahics processors, the Eee PC 1201T has 256MB of video memory while the Lenovo ThinkPad X100e has 336MB of video memory.

And those differences seem to have affected each computer’s score in the PassMark benchmark, with the Eee PC 1201T coming out ahead in the 3D and 2D graphics benchmarks and the memory test, but straggling behind in the hard disk test.

Asus Eee PC 1201T with AMD Neo processor now shipping in Germany

You know that rumor that was going around yesterday saying that Asus could ship an AMD powered Eee PC model as soon as February? It was wrong. The folks at Netbook News.de discovered that you can order an Asus Eee PC 1201T with an AMD Neo MV-40 CPU in Germany today.

The Eee PC 1201T looks virtually identical to the NVIDIA ION-powered Asus Eee PC 1201N on the outside. But on the inside it replaces the dual core Atom 330 CPU and ION graphics with a 1.6GHz AMD Neo MV-40 CPU and ATI Radeon HD3200 graphics.

It sells for 399 Euros, or about $560 US.

MSI introduces 12.1 inch laptop with AMD CPU, Windows 7

msi l2100

MSI has added a new AMD Athlon Neo-powered laptop to its lineup. The 12.1 inch notebook looks an awful lot like the previously released MSI Wind U210, but the new model has a new name and a new operating system. It’s called the MSI L2100-036US and it runs Windows 7 Home Premium instead of Windows Vista.

The CPU is a 1.6GHz AMD Neo MV-40 processor, and the display has a resolution of 1366 x 768. Rounding out the specs are ATI Radeon X1250 graphics,  2GB of RAM, a 250GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n WiFi, 3 USb ports, a 4-in-1 card reader, mice and headphone jacks (and a line in jack, which is uncommon on notebooks), as well as VGA and HDMI outputs.

The LS2100 weighs 3.2 pounds with a 6 cell battery and measures 11.7″ x 7.5″ x 1.2″. The new model also costs about $20 less than the MSI Wind U210, at $459.99.
