701 multitouch

Most Asus Eee PC netbooks with 9 and 10 inch displays include multitouch gesture support for the touchpad. In other words, you can scroll up and down or left and right by placing two fingers on the keyboard, and you can simulate a right-click by tapping the screen with 3 fingers.

But the 7 inch Eee PC 701 doesn’t have a multitouch trackpad — or does it? Aldrin Cantos at All About Netbooks installed the Jolicloud operating system, which is based on Ubuntu Linux on his Eee PC 701. And you know what? Multitouch gestures started working.

Of course, the Eee PC 701 has an incredibly small touchpad, so if you’ve got big hands, you might have a hard time even fitting three fingers next to one another. But if you want to see a video of the gestures in action, you can check one out after the break.
