pcmall-2140

PCMall is offering two mail-in rebates which bring the price of an HP Mini 2140 netbook down to $300. Normally this model goes for $369.99 at PC Mall, or $399 at HP.com.

The HP Mini 2140 has a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, a 10.1 inch, 1024 x 576 pixel display, 1GB of RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 802.11a/b/g/n  WiFi, Bluetooth, and runs Windows XP. But that’s only part of the story. The netbook also has a sturdy aluminum case and an accelerometer that shuts down the hard drive before your computer hits the ground if you drop it. This is a business class netbook, and while it usually carries a business class price, it looks like you can snag it for just $299.99 as long as you make your purchase before the end of the month.

This particular model ships with a 3 cell, 28WHr battery and includes a free slip case (something which HP doesn’t usually offer).

You can read my review of the HP Mini 2140 for more information or check out the netbook’s page in the Liliputing Product Database. The cheapest model I’ve seen with a 6 cell, 55WHr battery will run you $429.

The Mini 2140 only has 1 SODIMM slot plus windows home can only access 1GB of RAM, so what the point of the 1GB of additional RAM?? I'm lost.

Yeah, the really want to extort a pile of money out of you for the supposedly "only $25" screen upgrade. Quite annoying.
