There’s a lot of talk these days about MSI’s newest mini-laptops, like the Wind U123 with the Intel Atom N280 CPU and the Wind U110 Eco which can run for 9 hours on a single charge. But once upon a time, there were only two MSI netbooks. The Wind U100 and its little brother the Wind U90. The Wind U100 was a popular netbook in the US and around the world, but the U90, which was virtually identical except for its smaller, 8.9 inch display, was never released in the US. Until now.

Portable Monkey noticed that online retailer ZipZoomFly is selling the MSI Wind U90 for just $194.99, making it one of the cheapest Intel Atom powered netbooks around. While the U90 has an 8.9 inch screen, it has the same large keyboard found on the Wind U100. It just has a larger bezel around the display.

This netbook ships with an 80GB hard drive, 512MB of RAM, and SUSE Linux. But if you’re not happy with that Linux distribution, it should have enough horsepower to handle any other operating system you care to throw at it.
