eee-pc-900aThe other day I mentioned that you can pick up a refurbished Asus Eee PC 900A for $170 from Buy.com. But froobi.com is offering an even better deal. Today only, you can grab a refurbished Eee PC 900A for $150.

The netbook has an 8.9 inch 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1.6GHz Intel atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, and a 4GB solid state disk. It weighs about 2.2 pounds, and has a battery that should run for about 3 to 3.5 hours. This model runs Xandros Linux, but you could easily replace it with Windows XP or another flavor of Linux like Eeebuntu. Just bear in mind that the machine has only 4GB of storage, so you might want to invest in a high capacity SD card to add a little extra storage space.

If you’re looking for a more capable machine, check out our list of 19 netbooks for $350 or less.

I agree with Joshua. I did exactly what he suggests. Boosted the 900A to 2 GB of ram and a Runcore 64GB SSD. Performance is outstanding.

If this was black, I don't think I could resist it... yeah, I know it's dumb to be so concerned with superficial appearance, I just like the black ones.

Makes you wonder why anyone would go through all the hassle of designing one of these: http://www.eetimes.com/news/latest/showArticle....

I've been in contact with Celio corp. for a many months explaining to them that they need to drop the price to $99. That was when the device debuted at $499. Their responses are always that sales are excellent and there is no need to drop the price. Then they dropped it to $399.... then $299.... now $199.

If a peripheral manufacturer were to produce a bluetooth QWERT keyboard for phones like the iPhone, G1, etc. Then not only is the show over for Celio, but it could take the winds out of netbook sales (pun intended).

No, you really don't want to invest in an SD card for storage space. You want to add a new SSD from RunCore, which will not only take care of your storage needs, but it will also improve the performance dramatically. It doesn't cost that much more, and goes to much higher capacities should you want that.
