If you accidentally mistook the Wanxin H1 netbook for an Acer Aspire One, I wouldn’t blame you. The Wanxin mini-laptop is clearly designed to look like an Aspire One. But it’s not. At all.
While the Aspire One has an 8.9 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display and runs Windows XP or Linux, the Wanxin H1 has a 9 inch 800 x 480 pixel screen and runs Windows CE, an operating system designed for mobile phones and PDAs. It also ships with 256MB of RAM, 4 to 8GB of flash storage, and an undefined Samsung CPU.
On the bright side, the netbook weighs less than 2.1 pounds, has 3 USB ports, 802.11b/g WiFi, VGA output, and an Ethernet port. It also supports GPRS and GSM wireless data connections and comes with either a 2 hours, 2100mAh battery or a 4 hour, 4200mAh battery.
The H1 is just one of Wanxin’s oddball netbooks. The company also has a T1 netbook with a 10.2 inch display and an Intel Atom CPU, and U1 model that looks like it has a 7 inch display.
No word on pricing or availability for these Taiwanese netbooks.
