razorbook-155The 3K Razorbook 400 isn’t going to win any awards for speed, performance, or design. This little netbook has a 400MHz ARM CPU, a 7 inch, 800 x 480 pixel display, 4GB of flash memory and just 128MB of RAM. But it’s cheap.

How cheap? Normally it costs a bit over $200, but right now TheNerds.net has a model in stock that is selling for $154.99.

This mini-laptop runs Windows CE 6.0, which is similar to the operating system found on Windows Mobile phones. It comes with stripped down Office applications for creating and editing text and spreadsheet documents, as well as a simple web browser. The RazorBook comes with a 2 cell, 2100mAh battery and measures 8.7″ x 5.6″ x 1.25″.

There are also a few versions of Linux that can run on the 3K Razorbook 400 if you want to do something funky like install Firefox.

You can read more about the Razorbook and similar netbooks by checking out our XBurst netbook reading list.

Update: It’s even cheaper at Buy.com, where you can pick the RazorBook up for $148.

That description is wierd. I'd bet good money it isn't really an ARM at all, instead the typical 400Mhz MIPS we have seen in the other razorbooks. And a SmartMedia slot? SmartMedia? In 2009?

The manufacturer's website says the media slot is SD and SM. Oooookay. The CPU is an Ingenic JZ4740. Again the manufacturer of the laptop says it is ARM, but Ingenic says Xburst. The CPU has one USB 2.0 interface, the laptop claims more.

And the manufacturer sells the laptop in either Linux or CE flavors for the same price... but gives a 4GB flash with CE and only 1GB for linux. Lame.

    No it is an ARM...

They did a limited early run of CE ones on the old Injenic CPU and swapped to ARM for later run though it is defo CE5

I'm going back to school soon. I do hope these deals last, as I might want something absolutely tiny like this...

I fail to see how this is a deal when the EEE PC 901 was 180$ the other day. There's a world of difference in power between the two computers.

Agree with Anonymous Coward. I might (emphasize "might") be interested at $49.95. It could be a 4th computer (after desktop, laptop, and netbook).
  • The Linux razorbook ran on the xburst CPU.

Don't think there is a Linux version for the ARM one.

Yes but that is not somthing you can just install on an ARM netbook running CE.
  • I know the spec says CE6

but I know someone with one and the std ROM and the downloadable re-flash are both CE5.

    Hmm...
    Might also be a good target for xPUD (If I can cross-compile xPUD that is);
Based on the work already done by 3MX.
