The Asus S121 is the big brother of the Asus Eee PC S101. Although Asus refuses to slap the Eee PC name on any laptop with a screen larger than 10.2 inches, this little laptop which first showed up at CES in January looks an awful lot like the Eee PC S101. It just happens to have a 12.1 inch display.

The S121 isn’t available in the US or Europe yet, but retailer PC Home has started selling the computer in Taiwan. The configuration on sale now has a 12 inch inch WXGA display, a 1.33GHz Intel Atom Z520 CPU, a 160GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM, a 1.3MP camera, 802.11n WiFi, Bluetooth, and a 4 cell battery that PC Home says is good for up to 8 hours. The laptop runs Windows XP Home Edition.

At CES, Asus said that the S121 would be available with a 512GB SSD, but there’s no sign of that option yet. If and when the high capacity SSD does show up, you can be sure it will drive the price way up. Right now PC Home is charging 26,900 Taiwanese dollars for the S121. That’s about $800 US.

Update: The official Asus S121 product page is live now as well.

  1. Kudos to Asus to following the rules for the market they created with the 701. 10.2 sounds about right.
