Samsung has unveiled its successor to the popular NC10 netbook. The Samsung N110 is superficially a lot like the NC10, but it has a few modifications that should make it attractive. Laptop Magazine has a full review of the new computer, which was officially unveiled last night, but here are a few of the highlights:
- The chassis has been redesigned with rounder edges and a glossy lid.
- The touchpad is a little wider and longer than the one on the NC10.
- Samsung has upgraded the battery with a higher capacity 5900mAh 6 cell unit (the original NC10 came with a 5200mAh) battery. Laptop Mag reports that the battery’s good for 7 hours and 24 minutes, or about 50 minutes longer than the Nc10 battery.
Overall, the Samsung N110 is a minor upgrade though. The laptop has the same 10.2 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display and 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU as its predecessor. It also has 1GB of RAM, a 160Gb hard drive and runs Windows XP Home Edition, just like the NC10. It does cost a bit more, with a price tag of around $469. As Portable Monkey discovered this weekend, you can pick up an original Samsung NC10 for under $400 from CostCo.
