According to a report from Mobile Today, LG is going to reduce its focus on netbooks and laptops and focus instead on mobile phones, which is a faster growing market at the moment. It’s also an area where LG already has a strong presence. The company isn’t identified with laptops the way it is with cellphones, and in a market that’s flooded with netbooks from Dell, HP, Lenovo, Acer, Asus, MSI, Toshiba, Samsung, and doens of smaller companies, it’s probably hard for companies like LG and BenQ which are best known for expertise in electronics, not computers, to make headway.

But the article doesnt’ say that LG is getting out of the game, just pulling back for now. The company is reportedly planning to return to a “full netbook strategy” next year. Whatever that means.

For now, LG is pushing two mini-laptops in various markets, the LG X110 and LG X120 netbooks.
