new-products

I just finished adding a bunch of netbooks to the Liliputing Product Database. There’s now detailed information on about 80 different mini-laptops, including these recent additions:

There’s also detailed information on a few other new models, like the Asus Eee PC T91 and CTL 2Go PC convertible tablet-style netbooks. If you haven’t checked out the database in a while, there’s no time like the present. Remember, in addition to looking up netbook models, you can create comparison charts by clicking the check boxes next to the netbooks you want to compare.

Thanks for the update. It must be quite a chore with all the new players in the game. I regularly suggest to friends to check out your database.

Good idea, but this database lacks the first 2 things I want to know about a netbook:
    1) is it passively cooled or does it have a fan?
    2) is the screen glossy or matte?

Great database. It would be great to see the dimensions and weight in metric measurements, i.e. mm and g. Ideally one would switch between either view and not see both types of measurements in the columns. Weather.com does this nicely via two radio buttons to show either Fahrenheit or Celsius.
  • Yeah, Steve from UMPC Portal maintains the database architecture and
we've been talking about doing this for a while. I'll give him a
little nudge. Since the largest portion of my audience is in the US,
the measurements default to inches and ounces, but it would be nice to
    give readers a choice.

    Thanks for all the work.
Great database to find a way through the netbook jungle.

  • Whoops. I wrote that a few weeks ago back when we thought it *would*
    use that chipset. Fixed now!
