Word on the street is that Acer will begin phasing out the 8.9 inch version of the Acer Aspire One netbook now that the 10.1 inch version is starting to ship. The new model isn’t much larger, has a larger screen and a better touchpad. And it won’t break the bank, with prices starting at around $350. But if you don’t need the new screen or touchpad you can save a few bucks by picking up an older model while stores are trying to clear out their stock.
Newegg is offering an Acer Aspire One with an 8.9 inch display, 16GB solid stte disk, 1GB of RAM, and Linpus Linux Lite operating system for just $239.99.
Or if you’re willing to pay a few bucks more for Windows, you can grab an Aspire One with virtually identical specs and Windows XP Home instead of Linux for $259 from Buy.com.
