Asus is starting to phase out its 8.9 inch netbooks to focus on models with 10.2 inch displays and larger keyboards. And you know what that means: deep discounts on the mini-laptops with smaller displays. Today I got an email from Amazon alerting me to an Eee PC 901 price drop. You can pick up this Eee PC with an 8.9 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel display, a 1.6GHz Intel Atom N270 CPU, 1GB of RAM, a 12GB SSD, 6 cell battery, and Windows XP Home for $320.

It looks like the deal is only for the Eee PC 901 with a red lid that’s also covered with a flowery/snowflake-like pattern. So if that’s not your cup of tea, this might not be the netbook for you. But Amazon is also selling black and white models of the Eee PC 901 for $367.99 each. No flowery patterns included.
