HP Mini 1000 with Windows XP

I know I said the Dell Inspiron Mini 9 was the deal of the day. But that was before I noticed that HP has taken $50 off the base price of the HP Mini 1000 with Windows XP. That means you can get this netbook for just $299. Keep in mind, the base price includes just 512MB of RAM, an 8GB solid stte disk, and an 8.9 inch, 1024 x 600 pixel glossy display. If you want a larger screen, more RAM, or more storage you’ll have to pay extra. But this machine still comes with one of the best keyboards you’ll find on any netbook. And at just 1 inch thick, it’s one of the thinnest mini-laptops around.

HP has also dropped the price of the HP Mini 1000 Mi Edition to $279. And you can pick up an HP Mini 1000 WWAN edition with 3G wireless connectivity for $449.

How can I view the HP software repositiory for the Linux-based apps. for the Mini MI? I don't have one, but I am considering this model over the XP version. I wanted to see what kinds of apps. are available first, since I heard that only HP-approved apps. can be installed on the Mini MI. I have not been able to find a reference to a web address for it.
