eee-pc-1000-150Asus has released BIOS updates for at least two Eee PC models including the Eee PC 1000H and Eee PC 1002HA. There’s no solid information explaining what’s new in the latest BIOS versions, but some members of the EeeUser forums say their computers seem to boot a few seconds faster after updating the Eee PC 1000H BIOS.

I wasn’t able to locate the new BIOS using the Asus Update utility on my Eee PC, but you can download the files using the links below:

If you notice any major changes after installing the latest BIOS updates, let us know in the comments.

Thank you very much for this information, it really helped me.
  • Am using EEEBuntu 8.10 (Linux) on my Asus EEE Pc 1000H XP ( I do not have XP installed on it anymore). Are these the absolutely latest revisions of the BIOS that you are linking to? (as of the date am posting this comment). I tried downloading from Asus website but it keeps saying "Service Unavailable", looks like their website is b0rked.

Also I don't think I have the EZ Bios update tool on my EEE, is there any other user friendly tool / way of updating BIOS on a Linux OS? Including maybe taking a backup of the current BIOS file?

How do you run the file? I get the 'windows cannot open this file' message where it wants to check the net to find a program to open it... doesn't find anything though.

For 1000H XP the BIOS 1501 is latest update

Good to know Asus is still tuning these models instead of just focusing on the next model to come out.
  • The 1305 update for the 1000HA is on the Asus support site now. The note associated with the download says it is to "optimise memory".

The funny thing is that you will *always* have a few reports from random people saying that it "feels" like their device performs better after a BIOS/firmware update. It's more psychological than anything. I can almost guarantee that the before and after boot times are identical.

Asus USA Support download website says BIOS 1305 Optimize memory.

I'll try it and see, what do I have to lose besides my chains, my mind, and my currently functional EeePC?

I don't notice any major differences after doing 1305.

I wonder if this fixes issues that were reported back in the Fall of 2008 that some users had with 2GB memory sticks from Crucial. the problem went away when they used OCZ ones.

the update is also valid for the 904HA model

I installed it, and havn't noticed a difference. So .. no news is good news?

Maybe this enables 4gb sticks of ram ... of course, that would requires changes elsewhere on the chipset, wouldn't it?
