The nice folks at Asus just sent me an Eee PC 1002HA to review for the next few days. The Eee PC 1002HA is something of a cross between the Eee PC 1000H and the Eee PC S101. It has a brushed aluminum case like the S101, but it’s just about as thick as the 1000H. Or at least it would be if it had the same thick battery. But instead it has a thinner, lower capactiy battery.

All told, the Eee PC 1002HA is basically an Eee PC 1000H on the insides (same processor, RAM, and hard drive), but with a much slicker exterior case. The trackpad, hardware buttons, and ports are also arranged differently. And there may be a few other surprises waiting for me. So I’m going to use this netbook for the next few days and post a full review sometime next week.

But in the meantime, I thought you might want to see a little unboxing video. The netbook did come in retail packaging, but I’m obviously not the first person to get my hands on this particular unit. It shipped with the battery already installed, and Windows XP already configured and ready to go.

You can check out the video, which includes a little side by side shot with the Eee PC 1000H after the break.

  1. i see the quality of workmanship hasn’t improved over time… my pc701 has a crooked space bar that is difficult to use. the photo of this new model shows obvious plastic distortion just above the track pad.

honestly, how hard can it be to make cases look good? other companies seem to manage. my Acer netbook is well made, solid and feels like a regular notebook in many ways.

asus may have started this product line, others are definately making inroads with fewer models and better customer focus!

    1. It’s worth pointing out that this is a review unit and I’m not the first person to get this computer. It’s possible that the warping wasn’t Asus’s fault. Of course, it’s possible it is. I just don’t know.

  2. Make the right shift key full-size, and only then will I consider buying this. Asus is really losing a lot of sales over their keyboard ——- Samsung with its NC10 is gaining profit from making a keyboard which makes more sense. Asus, are you reading this?
