Way back when Michael Dell first “leaked” news about the Dell Inspiron Mini netbook line to Gizmodo, he was carrying a machine with a glossy red cover. But so far the netbook has only been available in black or white. Now it looks like red and pink models are about to be released – in Japan.
Dell is also releasing a new configuration called the Platinum Package in Japan that will come with a 32GB, Windows XP Home, and and Microsoft Office 2007. The versions available in the US come with 4GB, 8GB, or 16GB solid state disks. The Platinum Package will set you back 54,980 yen, or about $569 US, while the basic model with a 4GB SSD and Ubuntu Linux costs just 34980 yen, or about $362 US.
