In what can only be described as one of the coolest netbook hacks to date, one Russian Eee PC 701 owner decided that his netbook would look better in his car’s dashboard than on his lap. So he set about to make it happen. The end result? An Eee PC-based carputer with GPS, Bluetooth, and a wireless keyboard that hangs out in the glove compartement.

Based on the photos, it looks like this particular machine runs Windows XP, functions as a media player, and presumably a GPS device. It also looks like the kind of hack that requires a bit more than a few soldered wires. For one thing, there’s not much ventilation behind the dashboard, so this hack required adding some serious heat sinks to the motherboard.

Thanks Ivan!

For some reason I thought you meant the EEE mini pc that is the size of a paperback book.

I have respect for the mod but the EEEbox is the way to go for vehicles. (or a Mac mini if you have 3 times the money)
