I think is important is the weight of the netbook. Some of them are now exceeding 3 pounds. That's still not a lot compared to a laptop, but weight was very high on my comparable list as I barely notice my 2.2 pound netbook in my bag.

I've just ordered an Asus 900HA from a Canadian on-line retailer for $393 CDN. When you convert it to US dollars at today's exchange rate ($1 CAD = 80¢ USD), that comes to about $315 USD.
