It figures. A few weeks after I pulled the trigger and ordered an Eee PC 1000H for $550, Asus decides to drop the price a second time. The 1000H was originally listed at $650 before Asus marked the price down to compete with the MSI Wind and other cheap laptops. Now it looks like you can pick up a 1000H for $505 at Amazon or as low as $449 at Mwave. In fact, if you’re willing to take an open box unit, MWave has one going for $359 at thee moment.

Apparently Asus is dropping prices across the board. Earlier today I noted that you can pick up an Eee PC 901 for under $500. And it looks like the Eee PC 1000 with its 40GB SSD is going for $599 now, which is about $100 cheaper than it was selling for a few days ago.

Update: Amazon also has the Eee PC 1000H for $449. For some reason this didn’t come up in my initial search.

Update 2: Newegg has also cut its price for the 1000H to $449: ASUS Eee PC 1000H 80G – Fine Ebony Intel Atom 10.0″ WSVGA Integrated Graphics

  • Oh, well. The saga of early adopters.

I got my 1000H at the $549 price. Not too unhappy, given that I've had it for a couple of weeks now.

I'm hoping the price cuts extend to the Asia Pacific markets also. If so, I'm glad I waited to see what Dell and Lenovo had in store rather than buying the 1000H a few weeks ago.

    Rick, I feel your pain.

I too bought the 1000H from Amazon at the $549 price a few weeks ago. Amazon now has it at $449. But I called Amazon up today and used their 30 day post-purchase price guaranty to receive a credit of $99.96. Unfortunately Amazon has eliminated their post-purchase price guaranty, but it went into effect on September 1; fortunately I bought my 1000H on August 27.
  • Yeah, I was hoping to do this as well, but unfortunately I bought mine from
an Amazon Marketplace seller. I still think $550 was a decent price for the
Eee PC 1000H, so I'm not complaining. But it would have been nice to have
    saved a few bucks.

This is one of the reasons for my love/hate relationship with newegg.
They're still at $549 but they don't ever ever do price matching as far as I know.
Damn...I could've bought it from amazon and paid for overnight shipping and still paid less than newegg

Konqueror was acting funny when I tried to post and my comments didn't show up when I loaded firefox

Damn...$100? That's the last time I order from newegg, with their BS no price matching ever.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat as the rest of you. And this is one of the reasons I have a love/hate relationship with Newegg and their no price matching ever ever ever policy.

Note that on amazon is says 'Usually ships in 1-2 months' wtf

just to let you know newegg has them at 449 now...

I just got my 1000H - based largely on the positive things you had to say about it. It's a great little machine and I'm convinced will make my out-of-office life a lot easier. So while you spent too much for yours, you can take solace in knowing that you touched the life of another human being (one who got a much better price, at $449 on Amazon).
