The Asus Eee PC 904 is basically a cross between an Eee PC 900 and an Eee PC 1000HD. It has the same large case and keyboard as the 1000HD, but the smaller display and slower CPU as the Eee PC 900. Julian Prokaza at Mobile Computer Magazine managed to get his hands on a preproduction unit and shot the first look video you can see above.

Here’s what you get for £269 or about $537:

  • 900MHz Intel Celeron CPU
  • 8.9 inch 1024 x 600 pixel display
  • 80GB hard drive
  • 6600mAh battery

Everything else is pretty standard. The computer has a few USB ports, 802.11b/g WiFi, a webcam, and audio inputs and outputs.

  1. I think you might have referred to the 1000HD in the wrong context. The 1000HD also has a celeron like the 904HD. The 1000H has the Atom. The only difference between the 1000HD and thee 904HD is the screen size. So many models to be confused with!

  2. at this price point, what is the advantage of getting the 904? Doesn’t the 1000H have better/equal specs in every case?

Processor, screen, wifi. You’re paying $10 to get the better version of all of that (Possibly, Asus would probably round it up to 550 anyway), I don’t see the logic. Maybe if it was priced a lot lower, but since the 1000 price cut it doesn’t jive at all.

Same goes for most of the new models asus has put out. a 901H would make a little sense, but most I’ve seen don’t really make any sense.
