The HP Mini-Note is starting to show up at online retailers including Newegg, J&R and Amazon. So far, it looks like you’ll only find the $599 and $750 models running Windows Vista. If you want the $499 or $549 models running SUSE Linux, you’ll still have to order your computer from the HP web site.

And it looks like most retailers are selling the Mini-Note for the standard price, if not a few bucks more. But if you purchase from HP.com, you can currently only order the Mini-Note from the small business page, which means you’ll wind up paying tax. So you might save a few bucks by ordering from an online store that doesn’t charge sales tax in your area. Plus, if you’re lucky you might get quicker shipping.

Newegg was selling the $549 linux model -- I bought mine from them -- but they sold out quick.
  • I got offline early yesterday due to illness so I didn't see this until now. If J&R is showing it online, then it will definitely be in-store too. Yippee!! I can finally bang on that keyboard and see what it's like! I just checked -- and they'll be getting in that lust-o-licious Little Red Riding Hood Lenovo u110. I want to bang on that too (in a way that won't get me arrested as a perv, you understand!).
